Doris is a Swiss/Kiwi. She grew up in Lucerne,
Switzerland. Peter’s hometown is Wellington. We have been
living in the Gingerbread House for 4 years and we love it. Before
we moved to NZ Peter and Doris lived in Switzerland, where Peter
learned German and worked as a Nurse Aid. Doris worked as a Social
Worker.
Peter is a passionate biodynamic gardener. He
has planted hundreds of trees and shrubs on the 7 acre property.
Doris looks after the house and the flower garden. Imagine, she
even has a Swiss diploma in professional housekeeping.
We are very fond of good, home made food. In
Summer/Autumn we are busy with bottling and preserving. It is
one of our aims to care for the land and to live within nature’s
rhythm and cycles. Sowing seeds and watching how they sprout and
grow is just so amazing. Harvesting it and creating it into tasty
food is a pleasure.
A hobby of ours is tramping or hiking. We love
walking in the Mountains and National Parks. There are so many
beautiful National Parks, Forest Parks and Reserves all around
New Zealand, that we will never stop discovering new places.
Peter works as the local school bus driver and
we sell French Crepe at festivals. However our emphasis is being
hosts. We are passionate about the guests experiencing a warm,
relaxed and personal atmosphere, excellent food, visual beauty,
sun and nature and overall a special memory of NZ that can be
taken back home...
…. and we will never tire of meeting new
people and learning about their culture, dreams and aims in life.
